I’d like to share a helpful vision tip. The best reading glasses for you depend on how you plan to use them. Whether you’re reading a computer screen, a book, or the fine print on a prescription bottle, the strength you need will vary based on the viewing distance. Over-the-counter reading glasses typically range from +1.00 to +3.00 diopters, with some styles available up to +4.00. They usually increase in 0.25-diopter increments. In general, the higher the number, the stronger the magnification and the closer you’ll need to hold reading material. Generally, lower powers are ideal for reading computer screens, a mid-range one is used for reading books, and higher powers above +3.00 are typically best for very small print, such as labels, instructions, or prescription bottles. You may also be able to estimate the strength you need by consulting a “power-by-age” guide. As you get older, the power on your reading glasses will likely increase to adjust to the natural changes in the lens of your eyes.

Let’s put those the laughter shoes on and see where the joke of the day will take us. It’s entitled, “Germ Geometry.”

“Yong, do you know why bacteria are terrible at math?”

“No. Why?”

“Because they multiply by dividing.”
