In today’s news, European Commission addresses humanitarian crisis in Democratic Republic of the Congo, disease-carrying mosquitoes spreading in California, USA, Maldives takes bold stand against tobacco to protect its youth, Canadian researchers find eco-friendly way to remove hazardous chemicals from wastewater, boy in US donates stem cells to save father’s life, Peruvian startup revolutionizes market with innovative vegan meat, and French police officers rescue dog-person trapped in car.

I have a health and beauty tip for you today. Waking up with a puffy face is usually linked to diet, sleep habits, or mild inflammation. Eating salty foods or drinking alcohol before bed can cause water retention, while sleeping face-down or not getting enough rest may lead to fluid buildup around the eyes and cheeks. Harsh or unsuitable skincare products can also cause irritation. To reduce swelling, rinse your face with cool water or apply an ice compress for 5 to 10 minutes, gently massage with your fingers or a jade roller, and use soothing cucumber or aloe masks. Morning exercise and sleeping with your head slightly elevated can also help. If swelling persists or comes with redness, itching, or pain, consult a doctor as it could signal sinus, kidney, or allergy-related issues.

Let’s add a little humor to your daily routine with today’s joke. It’s called “Bids Gone Bananas.”

Three contractors bid on a minor fence repair job at the city baseball stadium. The first contractor comes in with a bid of $1,000: $400 for materials, $400 for labor, and $200 for profit. The second contractor says he’ll do the job for $800: $300 for materials, $300 for labor, and $200 for profit. The third contractor submits a bid of $100,800.

The stadium manager exclaims: “Why so much?”

The third contractor explained: “Well, I figure $50,000 for me, $50,000 for you, and $800 for another guy to fix the fence.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Estelle in Canada
