(No, I can’t get any closer.) …And they have big ego, big achievement in their life, and they’re used to being somebody. It’s not easy just to stay there, just like that, just because Master says so. And she was born in Chile. She’s the daughter of a Chilean Ambassador in United States, right? Or in where? (Well, in a certain time in the United Nations and then Ambassador to Ecuador.) Yeah. And so… (I lived in the [United] States when I was young.) Yeah. (That’s how you learned your three languages.) (Well, actually that’s how I learned English. French, I learned in Chile because I went to a French school when I returned. My parents were both diplomats.) Yeah, both were diplomats. (And they thought that I had to learn French, which just was the language of the diplomats. So I grew up with the diplomats.) Oh dear! Oh dear, Miss! (But now it has served me very well.) Yeah. (Because at the United Nations, if you know French, that definitely puts you in another category.) Everywhere. Yes. The “omnipotent” ability. (More than Spanish.) “Omnipresent.” Yes, yes. French is very useful. (Like a status.) Yeah, yeah. (At the UN if you know French, you’re definitely in another [category].) OK, get me a job. Tell them I also know French to some extent. I can polish more, if I get a job, I promise (OK.) to go to Alliance française and polish my French for one more month.

Very, very, very rare. You will be happier that way; you’ll be successful. (I think so.) You’re successful when your house is stable.
But I’m also out of that “business”. (They do, don’t they? It’s true.) I can’t maintain all the noisy moments. (At most to keep the carpet clean.) I don’t even keep a cat(-person) [from] going because we never could keep a cat(-person) [from] going. I had a cat(-person) before. My husband brought it for me. (Thank You.) (And then what?) You know what? I couldn’t bear to deal with him because he was always crying and meowing and then jumped all over my clothes and my sofa. And I said to my husband, “Why did we have to get that cat(-person)?” And he said, “Just to have something moving in the house,” because we were only two and no children. He thought it was too quiet. (Thank You.) And so, what happened was the cat(-person) understood our situation, and he often went to the neighbor to play with other cat(-people). And sometimes he didn’t even go home. Now and again, he came back just to meow around and then just to let us know that he was still there. And then, he meowed out again. So I couldn’t even keep a cat(-person) at my house.
…To cross the river, you have to adjust to the river’s flow and the (river) bed. When you walk into a house, you have to adjust to the custom of that house. So, I walked into “America house” and try to see the Americans. Just that the customs (officers) at the airport, they give me a hard time, all the time. They smell something different from us. (Yes, very difficult.) (Did You have a hard time when You left the Bahamas?) No, they didn’t. Because he threw his weight around. He threw his UN executive advisory, or something card out, gave me protection. So, they stamped six months for each. Never did it before. (Coming in?) Yeah! I can stay in America [for] six months.
