Amsterdam, Netherlands, phases out advertisements for animal-people meat and fossil fuels.

Local officials in Amsterdam recently enacted a policy prohibiting advertisements promoting animal-people meat-based foods, commercial flights, and gasoline-powered vehicles in public spaces. The move is in line with the city’s climate agenda to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and to help residents halve their animal-people meat consumption. Other governments are making similar moves, such as limits to fossil fuel advertising in Edinburgh, Scotland; Stockholm, Sweden; Florence, Italy; and France since 2022.
